“Pass the ball over here!”
“No, over here!”
Starbuck panted and dribbled down the court. It was only a few minutes into his first practice, and he already regretted trying out for the school basketball team. He wasn’t built for sports, even without his gym shorts being a size too small and his diaper slowing him down. He tossed the ball in a random direction, just wanting to be rid of it, and it just so happened to go towards one of the voices shouting at him. Another kid knocked the ball out of the way and sprinted to the other end of the court. Coach Sullivan crossed his arms thoughtfully, nodding his approval.
“Hustle back to defense, Starbuck!” he barked.
Starbuck turned and hustled, his diaper forcing him into more of a swift waddle than a proper run. This was a lot harder than he expected. He wiped sweat from his brow. He was starting to limp, and a cramp was running up his leg… except it wasn’t a leg cramp. He felt his tail lifting up and familiar gurgles running through his stomach…
Aww, geez… not now… n-not now!
Of course, it didn’t matter what he did or didn’t want. It was going to happen anyway.
He froze, right as someone tossed the ball at him. He grabbed it without thinking, squeezing it tight. He felt his bowels heaving, his tail fully flagged up for all to see. With a sound like a bucket of mud being emptied onto the pavement, a huge load plopped into the seat of his diaper—and then another… and another… his gym shorts were stretching out from all the weight. Starbuck spread his legs farther apart, not daring to move a step until he was finished. Moving too much during a messing risked a leak.
“Woah, hey!” said Coach Sullivan, stepping onto the court. “Do we need to stop practice?”
Starbuck clutched the ball even tighter, feeling the back of his gym shorts struggling to contain his rapidly swelling diaper, the seams creaking as his diaper sagged lower and lower. He flushed red, feeling sweat running down his back.
“N-Nope! Just… nnnf… gimmie a minute here…”
At that very moment, there was a sound like ripping calico and the pressure on Star’s gym shorts dissapeared. Half the team burst into laughter behind him. Starbuck’s ears went flat, tears beading in his eyes. He was clutching the ball more for support than anything else.
Starbuck heard coach say something about shorts and getting off the court, and then there was a hand on his shoulder steering him off to the locker room. He was still holding the ball; it was the only thing he could look at. He felt coach gently take it from him and toss it over his shoulder. Star heard him call out something about practicing layups to the rest of the team, but he didn’t care. He wasn’t paying attention anymore. He sobbed into his balled-up fists, his diaper sloshing between his knees with every step.
Coach Sullivan scratched his chin, frowning. He patted Star’s shoulder. “Hey. Chin up, kiddo. It’s not the end of the world.”
Starbuck sniffled, eyes swimming as he looked up at his Coach. “B-But… in front of everyone, I…”
Starbuck blinked. “So… what?”
“So what? So maybe you were the first out there that needed a change, so what? We’re all in these for a reason.” He snapped his waistband against the diaper puffing out around his belly. “Do you usually have an accident around this time of day?”
“After cartoons,” said Starbuck. “And… during lunch sometimes, and… at night?”
“That explains it, then. It’s almost lunchtime.” Coach Sullivan chuckled. “Look kid, I promise you’re not the only one who’s gonna need a change before the end of practice. We’re called Leakers for a reason, right?”
“How do you know for sure?”
Coach Sullivan winced and put a hand on his belly. Just for a moment, just long enough for Starbuck to notice. “Oh… I don’t know. Just a feeling I have.”
